Twist to set your time
Turn the outer ring like a dial. The screen fills to the minutes you choose: five, twenty-five, ninety. No menus, no typing.
Focus Button
Twist to set the time, press to start. The Focus Bear app keeps the distractions out until your session ends.
A 2 minute look at the Focus Button.
For parents
You've seen it: they sit down to study, the phone lights up, and an hour later the books are still closed. Nagging turns into a fight, and screen-time rules get argued over or worked around. The Focus Button gives your teenager a way to shut the distractions out themselves, so starting stops being a battle.
Press start and notifications are silenced and the apps that derail them stay blocked until the timer ends. Not a reminder they can swipe away.
They press it themselves. No passwords to crack, no parent app watching over their shoulder, so it doesn't become one more thing to rebel against.
One twist, one press. It turns "I'll study later" into a session that's already running, which is usually the hardest part.
Because they run it themselves, it becomes their focus tool rather than a rule you enforce. The skill sticks once the button's put away.
How it works
Turn the outer ring like a dial. The screen fills to the minutes you choose: five, twenty-five, ninety. No menus, no typing.
One press starts the session and tells the Focus Bear app to lock the distractions out.
Until the timer ends, your notifications stay silent and your distracting sites stay blocked. When time is up, everything comes back. You just work.
Why it's different
A phone timer or a pretty hourglass just measures the minutes slipping past. The Focus Button is the physical trigger for the Focus Bear app: press start and the app silences notifications, blocks your distracting sites, and turns on Focus mode across your computer and phone, then puts it all back when the time is up.
All of it runs through the Focus Bear companion app on your computer. The button is the trigger; the app does the work.
Every ping, banner and badge goes quiet for the length of the session.
The sites that pull you away are shut off until the ring runs out.
Your Mac, iPhone and Windows quiet down together, so even your phone stops pulling at you.
Optional. Say what this session is for, out loud, and the button remembers.

Who's behind it
Focus Button comes from the team behind Focus Bear, a productivity app made for AuDHD adults, with a real team and people paying for it every day. We build for executive-function struggles because we live them, and we'd rather make a tactile thing that helps than ship another tab to ignore. From high-school and uni students to knowledge workers, with a simple screen-free timer for younger kids, it's for anyone who works better with a physical switch for their focus.
The button works with the Focus Bear app, normally a subscription. Thanks to a grant from the NDIA, it's free for people with disabilities, including autism and ADHD, until December 2026. The Focus Button hardware is a separate one-off purchase.
